Ondo State Government has said that all security and intelligence mechanisms have been activated to ensure the rescue of 60-year-old Adeniyi Adelana, community head of Ode Oriya Village in Owo LGA, who was kidnapped Saturday by six gunmen.

His wife was shot in a failed attempt to abduct her.

The commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Ajanaku, said this in Akure while reassuring the victim’s family and the public.

Ajanaku said police and other security agencies, in collaboration with Amotekun Corps, have launched coordinated search and rescue operations across strategic locations around the incident area.

“The swift response underscores the effectiveness of the state’s sustained investment in strengthening its security architecture,” he said.

He noted that through provision of modern intelligence-gathering equipment, including surveillance drones and other technological assets, Ondo Government has enhanced operational capabilities of security agencies in combating crime.

“Preliminary intelligence reports indicate security operatives are making significant progress in tracking the perpetrators,” Ajanaku said.

“Government remains confident ongoing operations will yield the desired outcome and lead to the safe rescue of the victim while ensuring those responsible face justice.”

He said Governor Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s administration remains unwavering in protecting lives and property.

” Security agencies have been directed to deploy every available resource toward resolving the incident, while efforts to strengthen intelligence-led policing and community-based security continue.

The government urged residents to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding, and to support agencies with credible information.

“Government assures all citizens it will continue to take decisive actions to safeguard communities and sustain peace across Ondo State,” Ajanaku added.
