War: Zelenskyy arrives in Washington, DC for Trump meeting

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Washington, D.C., ahead of a scheduled meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss efforts to end the war with Russia.
Zelenskyy confirmed his arrival in a post on X, stating that he would meet with Trump and a group of European leaders on Monday.
He expressed gratitude to Trump for the invitation, stressing the need for a lasting peace settlement.
The Ukrainian leader said the talks must differ from past negotiations, which he argued allowed Russia to annex Crimea and occupy parts of Donbas in 2014.
He also dismissed the “security guarantees” Ukraine received in 1994 as ineffective, insisting that enforceable commitments from the U.S. and Europe were necessary to prevent future Russian aggression.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Kyiv would not accept another temporary truce and highlighted recent Ukrainian military advances in the Donetsk and Sumy regions.
He maintained that Ukrainian forces would continue to defend their territory with Western support.
Trump, writing on Truth Social, described it as a “great honor” to host Zelenskyy and European leaders for the talks.
