U.S. Embassy in Nigeria to close for Eid-El-Fitr holiday

The U.S. Embassy in Nigeria has announced a temporary closure of its offices in Abuja and Lagos in observance of the Eid-El-Fitr holiday.
In a statement posted on its official X page on Wednesday, the Embassy said both the Abuja mission and the Lagos Consulate General will be closed on Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026.
The closure aligns with the celebration of Eid-El-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting.
“The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20, 2026 in observance of Eid-El-Fitr holiday. Happy Eid-El-Fitr to all our friends and families in Nigeria and around the world who celebrate!” the statement read.
Normal operations at both missions are expected to resume after the holiday period.
