‘Unwritten path destiny chose for me’

Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P and one-half of the defunct music duo Psquare, has revealed how his football dreams were sidelined as music took center stage.
In an Instagram post, the singer shared nostalgic memories of playing football in Jos, where he juggled sports and music.
“I used to play football, but destiny chose the mic for me,” Mr P said, recalling his time at Pepsi Academy, where he was offered a chance to play for Plateau United FC. “My dream was to play in Europe. Somehow, destiny chose the mic instead for me.”
Despite the detour, Mr P has found immense success as a musician. He and his twin brother Paul Okoye, aka Rudeboy, dominated Africa’s music scene as Psquare, before pursuing solo careers. Mr P now confesses that going solo has brought him greater financial success and personal peace.
His story serves as a reminder to chase dreams, no matter the obstacles.
“Today, I’m an established and successful musician,” Mr P echoed, embracing the path destiny chose for him.
