UCL: ‘We’ve done something never done in our history’ – Arsenal coach, Arteta

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has claimed that his team has done something never been done in the history of the club.

Arteta was speaking after guiding Arsenal to the Champions League semi-final stage on Wednesday.

The Spaniard watched as the Gunners played a 0-0 draw against Sporting CP in the Champions League quarter-final second leg tie at the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta’s side progressed to the Champions League semi-final stage on a 1-0 aggregate win.

The Premier League leaders will now face Atletico Madrid in the last-4 later this month, having reached this stage of the competition last season.

Speaking at his post-match interview after Arsenal’s goalless draw with Sporting, Arteta said, “My message was gratitude to [the players]. I know the effort and the commitment that they put in.

“There was a lot of work behind it, and we’ve done something that has never been done in the history of our club. We had to do it in a special way, missing a lot of important players, so big credit for that.”
