UCL: Arsenal receive double injury boost ahead Atletico Madrid semi-final

Arsenal have received a timely injury boost ahead of their Champions League semi-final first leg against Atletico Madrid.

Concerns had emerged over the fitness of Eberechi Eze and Kai Havertz after both players limped off during the narrow 1-0 victory over Newcastle United last weekend.

However, there was positive news for the Gunners on Tuesday as Eze was spotted in training ahead of the trip to Spain, suggesting he could be available for selection.

The midfielder was joined by defender Riccardo Calafiori, who has been sidelined since early April, further boosting manager Mikel Arteta’s options at the back.

In contrast, Jurrien Timber remains unavailable, having once again missed training as he continues his recovery.

There is less certainty surrounding Havertz, with Arsenal fans still waiting on an update over his condition.

Although Arteta described the issue as a “niggle” after the Newcastle match, the German is not expected to feature in the midweek European tie.

Arsenal will now hope their returning players can provide a crucial lift as they prepare for a decisive showdown in Madrid.
