Turkey: Galatasaray told to start leaving Osimhen on bench in matches

Prominent Turkish sports journalist, Ali Naci Küçük, has urged Galatasaray to start leaving their top attacker, Victor Osimhen on the bench in some matches.

Küçük stated this after Galatasaray announced on Friday that Osimhen has sustained a knee injury following the team's UEFA Champions League win against VfB Stuttgart.

“Last year, Osimhen was almost absent for half the season. This season, we are playing in week 11, and he’s played seven matches, missing four, including tomorrow’s game," Küçük was quoted by Winner Galatasaray as saying.

"So Galatasaray need to be a little more careful with Osimhen. If necessary, they need to rotate him in from time to time.

"In his current condition, yes, the pitch is a factor, but Osimhen plays match after match, putting in a huge amount of effort, and he’s not a player you can hold back or rein in.

"You need to start leaving Osimhen on the bench in matches where you’re more likely to win, so you can benefit from him throughout the season.”

Osimhen will miss Galatasaray's clash with Amed SK on Saturday evening and is expected to be out of action for three weeks.
