Transfer: Difficult to let him go – Arteta reacts as Arsenal midfielder leaves club

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, has admitted that it was difficult for him to let midfielder Christian Norgaard leave the club this summer.

On Wednesday, Arsenal announced that Norgaard has joined Everton in a permanent transfer.

The Gunners had signed the 32-year-old from Brentford in July 2025.

“I am very thankful for what he brought to the club, how he helped us to win,” Arteta said as quoted by Arsenal’s website.

“It was difficult to let him go. I understand it’s a stage in his career that he needs to play and fulfil as well, all their dreams, but [we are] forever thankful.”

Norgaard made 20 appearances in all competitions for Arteta’s side as they won the Premier League title last season.
