Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda reaches 9.2m Nigerians, targets 15m households

ABUJA — The Federal Government has intensified its Renewed Hope Agenda through the rollout of the Household Prosperity and Empowerment Cash Transfer Programme (HoPE-CT), a social intervention initiative that has already impacted over 9.2 million Nigerians nationwide.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, represented by Dr. Suleiman Haruna, Director of Public Relations and Protocol, described the programme as one of the most ambitious poverty reduction efforts in Nigeria’s history.

Speaking at the HoPE-CT Implementation Briefing and Press Conference on Monday in Abuja, the minister revealed that the initiative is on track to reach 15 million vulnerable households, with special uplift grants of ₦50,000 earmarked for 3.6 million families.

“The HoPE-CT programme is about restoring hope, expanding opportunities, and laying the foundation for inclusive prosperity. It demonstrates that the government is attentive to the needs of its citizens, especially those at the grassroots,” he said.

The minister commended the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction for driving the programme’s success, noting its growing impact in cushioning economic hardship among vulnerable groups.

He also urged the media to highlight the human impact of the initiative, showcasing how beneficiaries’ lives are transformed. “As storytellers, the media must amplify the human angle, showcasing before-and-after experiences that rekindle hope and strengthen public trust,” he added.

The Renewed Hope Agenda encompasses a range of complementary social intervention programmes, including:

Non-collateral, interest-free loans ranging from ₦300,000 to ₦400,000 for youth and women under the restructured National Social Investment Programme, as well as reforms to the N-Power scheme.

Student Loan Scheme, which has approved over ₦95.6 billion to support access to higher education.
Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), providing microloans to traders and small business owners through initiatives such as TraderMoni.

3 Million Technical Talent Programme (3MTT), equipping Nigerians with digital skills.
Skill-Up Artisans Programme (SUPA), modernizing vocational training.
Revamped National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, boosting school enrollment while supporting local agriculture.
Consumer Credit Scheme, backed by over ₦200 billion, enabling Nigerians to purchase goods on credit.
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative, reducing transportation costs.
Livelihood Support Grants, providing nano-grants to 600,000 micro-businesses.
LUMINAH 2030 Initiative, set to empower over one million women and girls through education and vocational training.

The minister assured that the Ministry of Information and National Orientation will continue collaboration with relevant agencies to enhance public awareness and citizen engagement.

“As we receive feedback and fine-tune implementation, we will continue to listen, learn, and deliver. Together, we must keep building a Nigeria where no one is left behind,” he said.
