Tinubu’s aide engages security agencies to end Benue killings

Dr. Abiodun Essiet, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, North Central, has visited security agencies in Benue to end crises in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Essiet on Wednesday visited the State Director, Department of State Services (DSS), Benue Command and the Commander, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), maintaining peace in Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba states.
The SSA said the visit was to share some of the community concerns they have gathered so far and how they would be collectively addressed to have peaceful communities.
She added that the visit was also to appreciate the security agencies for their efforts in terms of maintaining peace in communities.
“We have been having different conversations in view of their prompt response.
“The visit is also aimed at strengthening community intelligence and supporting the stakeholders so that they trust the Federal Government and the military in their operation.
“We are here to further build working relationships with security agencies so that we can have peaceful communities across Benue.
“I am also here to brief them on my three-day plan and the communities we are visiting in Kwande Local Government and other areas that have been recently attacked,” he said.
Maj.-Gen. Moses Gara, Commander, Operation Whirl Stroke, described Essiet’s visit as a very strong pillar for non-kinetic engagement in resolving the crisis.
Gara said that the SSA was working assiduously on getting people to resolve the crises by talking to themselves.
“We spoke on the steps we can take, how we can collaborate to restore peace and security in our area of operation,” stated.
The commander stated that the recent deployment of the battalion to Kwande had boosted the operational manpower in the troubled communities.
