Tinubu has no pathway to return in 2027 – Onochie

…launches ADC support group

Lauretta Onochie, former Special Assistant to late President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has no pathway to return to power in 2027 while inaugurating a national support group for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), ADC Movement for a Better Nigeria, and launching the group’s maiden magazine at a ceremony attended by party leaders and supporters.

Speaking at the event on November 12, 2025, Onochie said the movement draws inspiration from successful grassroots mobilisation efforts, including the Buhari Support Organisation, and described it as the first of many ADC support groups to be established nationwide.

“This is the beginning of the inauguration of support groups for ADC,” Onochie said. “For those of you who came with us from the APC, you will remember the Buhari Support Organisation. That had several support groups. That is what we are starting here today.”

The launch ceremony featured sustained applause and chants of “A D C!” from attendees as Onochie unveiled the magazine and highlighted the movement’s focus on grassroots organisation and community engagement.

On the prospects of President Tinubu’s 2027 bid, Onochie was unequivocal: “Tinubu has no pathway to return in 2027… We will stand our ground respectfully without insulting anyone, and we will just march on,” she said, receiving loud cheers from the audience.

She further urged supporters to pursue the movement’s objectives with discipline, stressing the importance of non-violent, organised grassroots mobilisation.

The ADC Movement for a Better Nigeria aims to serve as a structured network of local support groups to strengthen the party’s presence and influence ahead of future elections. Organisers said additional chapters and affiliate groups would be inaugurated in the coming months to expand the movement across the country.
