Security failure led to Kebbi schoolgirls’ abduction — IA-Foundation

A UK and Nigeria-registered organisation focused on education access, IA-Foundation, has attributed the abduction of schoolgirls from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State to security lapses.
The founder of the organisation, Ibironke Adeagbo, in a statement on Wednesday, said the incident reflected ongoing security challenges affecting schools across the country.
She expressed condolences to the family of the vice principal who was killed during the attack and urged coordinated efforts to rescue the abducted students.
Adeagbo called on the government and security agencies to strengthen protection around schools, particularly in areas vulnerable to attacks. She also urged the authorities to fully implement the Safe Schools Initiative and improve community-based alert systems.
She further appealed for increased investment in child safety and education to reduce risks faced by schoolchildren nationwide.
