The Rotary Club of Abuja, Pearl, has, installed a 10kw solar energy system with 20kw storage capacity to last for ten years at Kubwa General Hospital with Dr. Emmanuel Musa, the Chief Medical Director, praising Rotary Club for saving lives with the facility.
The CMD said, “To operate a hospital of this magnitude, with the volume of patients daily, some basic things are pertinent. We have prayed, we have written, we have requested, We have even voiced out our problems and challenges. Nobody is looking to help us.
“I found in Rotary Club, people that are ready to help us solve the energy problem. Power/energy is at the heart of all our services of saving lives both for adults and children. Without energy, you can’t get water. Without energy you can’t get oxygen. So We are saying a very big thank you to Rotary Club of Abuja
“They came on there own, they identified the most important problem in the hospital and they went to the root of the problem and within weeks, we are here to commission this solar project. We cannot thank Rotary enough.
“I want to pledge and give every assurance that we will do our best to put to good use, this project, as we have already put in place modalities for it’s maintenance”.
In her remarks, the Charter President of Rotary Club Abuja Pearl and brain behind the project, Mrs Victoria Imomoh said the Charter which is just 3 months old, decided to give something back to the society in line with the mission of Rotary Club.
“This General Hospital Kubwa took care of my driver when he had a ghastly car accident and sustained serious injuries. Today he can walk normally. The hospital has treated my children and grand children. We made efforts to come to the hospital and find out the challenges. We asked about water, light and we decided to intervene primarily to help save lives.
“We partnered with Bartum Energy to construct this project and they carried out the installations for us for free and I say a big thank you to Dartum
Rotarian Mrs Imomoh added that as part of efforts to give back to society, Rotary Club Abuja Pearl, last week empowered 6 women in need with donation of six brand new Grinding Machines in furtherance of Rotary Club’s poverty alleviation endeavour.
In addition, each of the 6 women in need were further empowered with N20,000 each for the fueling of the grinding machines so they can start business immediately
