Real Madrid ready to sell Vinicius Jr if he rejects new deal

Real Madrid could sell Vinicius Junior this summer if the Brazilian winger refuses to sign a new contract, with Arsenal reportedly monitoring his situation.

According to reports in Spain, Arsenal are considering a move for the 25-year-old before the summer transfer window closes, although the Premier League club have not yet made a formal offer for the player.

Vinicius has less than a year remaining on his current contract at Real Madrid, meaning he could leave the Spanish giants as a free agent next summer if an agreement over a new deal is not reached.

Spanish newspaper Marca reports that Real Madrid have offered Vinicius a new contract in an attempt to settle the uncertainty surrounding his future.

However, the club are understood to have made it clear that their latest proposal is final, with no plans to increase the offer or make further changes to their terms.

Madrid have reportedly told the winger that he must decide whether to renew his contract or leave the club this summer, as they do not want to risk losing him for nothing when his current deal expires.

The Spanish club are also said to be unwilling to change their existing salary structure, despite Vinicius being one of their most important players.

His position at the club could also face increased competition following the expected arrival of Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig in a deal worth up to €135 million (£115.5 million) including add-ons.

Earlier reports suggested that Vinicius himself wants his future resolved this summer and would prefer not to leave Real Madrid as a free agent.

The Brazilian joined Madrid from Flamengo in 2018 for a reported £38.7 million, arriving at the club as an 18-year-old.

Since then, he has established himself as one of the club’s key attacking players, scoring 128 goals in 375 appearances and helping Madrid win 14 trophies.

His honours include three La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies.

With Arsenal monitoring the situation, Vinicius’ decision over Real Madrid’s contract offer could determine whether one of the summer transfer window’s biggest moves takes place.
