Police repel cattle rustling, neutralise one bandit in Kebbi

Kebbi State Police Command has killed a member of Lakurawa terrorists group and thwarted their attempt to rustle 33 cows along Kamba–Kangiwa road in Dandi Local Government Area of the state.

The armed bandits were said to have stormed a farmhouse in the area, rustled the livestock but were confronted by the joint forces of the Police, Army’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) at Kamba, forcing them to abandon the stolen cows.

A release by the police public relations officer, SP Bashir Usman, said one bandit was killed while another escaped with gunshot injuries. “All the 33 cows were recovered and returned to the owner. Efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects continue,” it said.

It added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Hadejia, commended the operatives for their prompt response and effective collaboration.

He added that the police will sustain regular patrols along bandit-prone villages in the state to ensure the security of lives and property of people of Kebbi State.
