Police relax motorcycle restrictions during, after Ramadan in Gombe

The relaxation of motorcycle movement restriction from 7 pm to 11 pm in the month of Ramadan and beyond has been announced by the Gombe State Police Command.

A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, explained that the decision followed “extensive security consultations” aimed at accommodating increased religious and social activities during and after Ramadan.

Abdullahi further explained that the adjustment reflects the Command’s commitment to accommodating the increased religious, social and communal activities taking place during Ramadan, as well as the period following the month when festive and community engagements remain high.

The Gombe State Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, assured residents of the Command’s determination to maintain law and order despite the relaxed movement window.

The Command assured that it is unwavering in its commitment to maintaining peace, protecting lives and property, and ensuring that the relaxed movement window does not compromise public safety.

Chuso added that adequate security measures had been put in place to guarantee the safety of worshippers, commuters and residents across the state during and after the fasting period.

The Command advised motorcyclists to strictly comply with traffic regulations and other safety guidelines.
It advised riders to “obey all traffic regulations, avoid reckless or dangerous riding, ensure proper registration and carry valid identification at all times,” while urging them to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

The Command also appreciated religious leaders, community elders and residents for their cooperation during the consultation process, reiterating its dedication to safeguarding the state while respecting cultural and religious values.
