Police present N16.9m to families of deceased officers in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command has presented N16,945,238.34 to the families of 25 officers who died while on active duty.

The payment, made under the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Family Welfare Scheme, was handed over on Tuesday, August 26, at the Command Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi.

Commissioner of Police, Bello M. Sani, said the gesture reflected the IGP’s commitment to supporting the welfare of officers and their families. He encouraged beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously, particularly to support the education and future of their households.

“The sacrifices of the fallen officers will never be forgotten,” Sani said, noting that the welfare of serving, retired, and bereaved officers remains a priority for the police leadership.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mal. Abbas Ibrahim expressed gratitude to the IGP, saying the support would help cushion the impact of losing their loved ones.
