Police Clarify: Suspended lawmaker Hon Ovat Agbor was invited, not arrested

The Cross River State Police Command has clarified that Hon. Ovat Agbor was not arrested but was invited to answer questions regarding allegations of domestic violence involving his wife. He has since been released.

In a statement on Monday, Police Public Relations Officer ASP Sunday Eitokpah said Agbor honored the invitation alongside his wife. During the engagement, both parties expressed willingness to resolve their differences.

“The Honourable member has since been released to a reliable surety. The case file will be forwarded to the Office of the Attorney-General for legal advice upon conclusion of the ongoing investigation,” Eitokpah stated.

He added that the matter is being handled professionally and in accordance with legal procedures as the investigation continues.
