Police arrest suspected drug dealers, recover 2,188 illicit substances in Jigawa

Police in Jigawa State have arrested five suspected drug dealers and recovered 2,188 assorted illicit drugs.
Spokesman of the command, SP. Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to newsmen on Saturday.

He said the suspects were arrested in Gumel, Maigatari, Sara, and Gujungu Towns.

According to the statement, “As part of the Command’s ongoing war against drug abuse and trafficking, coordinated operations were carried out in Gumel, Maigatari, Sara, and Gujungu towns” 

Those arrested including, Sadik Yahaya, Musa Isiyaku,  Dauda Yakubu , Auwalu Lado and Habibu Abdullahi.

He said exhibits recovered included 2 locks of cannabis sativa and 2,188 assorted illicit drugs.

The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, CP Dahiru Muhammad, however commended the officers for their professionalism and dedication and reiterates the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property across the state. 

He urged the  public to continue to support the police with timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and detection.

The CP noted that all the suspects will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
