Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has addressed the conversations over a video he shared showing the hotel where the team is staying ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff match in Morocco.
The video, which quickly circulated on social media, drew criticism from fans who described the accommodation as inadequate for Nigeria’s national team.
Speaking on the controversy, Iwobi was quoted saying, “Life is all about perspectives. Because I snapped the view that I have, people are saying I’m ungrateful, but I didn’t even say one thing, I just made a look.”
The Fulham star stressed that his post was misinterpreted.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) also clarified that the Super Eagles are staying at the RIVE Hotel in Rabat.
According to the federation, the footage that went viral merely showed an older building visible from one of the hotel windows, not the actual team accommodation.
The NFF noted that the hotel was selected for its proximity to the team’s training ground and the stadium.
As the debate over the lodging continues online, the Super Eagles are keeping their focus on the upcoming playoff match against Morocco, with Iwobi emphasizing that the team’s performance remains the priority.
