PenCom announces details of meeting with Kogi Gov Ododo

The National Pension Commission has announced that Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo pledged support towards pension reforms.
The Commission disclosed this in a statement on Monday after Gov. Ododo paid a courtesy visit to its Director General, Omolala Oloworaran.
According to the statement, the governor highlighted ongoing measures to ensure the regular disbursement of monthly gratuity payments and the clearance of outstanding pension liabilities.
He also noted his continued advocacy for pension sector reforms, which began even before assuming office as Governor of Kogi State.
In her remarks, Oloworaran commended the governor’s dedication to the welfare of retirees and acknowledged the important role he has played in addressing pension-related challenges.
She expressed PenCom’s readiness to collaborate with the Kogi State Government to further strengthen pension administration and safeguard the welfare of workers and retirees in the state. The visit concluded with both parties reaffirming their shared vision of building a sustainable and transparent pension system that guarantees financial security for workers during retirement.
This comes amid the controversy that surrounds the Police Police scheme. Recently President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed a pension increment for police officers, tasking PenCom with its implementation.
The Nigerian Labour Congress last week threatened to embark on strike if the government fails to constitute a governing board for the commission and other demands.
