Oyo: Police arrest suspect, recover weapons over land dispute in Eruwa 

Men of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested one suspect in connection with a land dispute in Eruwa town.

The command made this declaration via a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade.

The statement was made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday evening.

DAILY POST gathered that Eruwa is one of the towns in the Ibarapa geopolitical zone.

Ayanlade, in the statement, explained that the suspect was arrested in connection with an assault.

He added that efforts are ongoing to arrest other suspects.

Ayanlade, in the statement, said that the incident was reported on Monday.

He added that the suspect, identified as Agboola Emmanuel, was arrested after the incident.

He maintained that the suspect is currently in police custody.

“Following the report, detectives from Eruwa Division commenced investigation and visited the scene of the incident. Preliminary investigation revealed that on 11 September 2026 at about 1200hrs, the victim had gone to a farmland located between Eruwa and Ayete, at Abule Oba-Gboru Village, through Okanlawon village, an area reportedly subject to a land dispute.

“At the farmland, the victim reportedly encountered Agboola Emmanuel ‘M’, Dare Agboola ‘M’ and Monday ‘M’, who were engaged in charcoal production using firewood. A disagreement subsequently arose and escalated into an altercation, during which the three men allegedly used machetes to inflict injuries on the victim.

“As the investigation progressed, detectives arrested Agboola Emmanuel, who, during interrogation, admitted his involvement and provided information identifying the other two individuals involved in the attack.”
