Oyo: Police arrest four suspects over alleged murder, defilement of 14-year-old girl 

The Oyo State Police Command has disclosed that it has arrested no fewer than four suspects in connection with various offences.

The four suspects were arrested at different locations across the state over alleged defilement, murder, and unlawful possession of human parts.

The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Olayinka Ayanlade, made this known in a statement.

The statement was made available to DAILY POST on Saturday in Ibadan, the state capital.

Ayanlade revealed that a suspect identified as Usman Azeez was arrested in connection with alleged defilement in Ado Awaye.

He added that the suspect is currently in police detention.

Ayanlade further said that another suspect, Abdulraheem Koni, was arrested in connection with the alleged murder of his former boss, Lateef Giwa.

According to Ayanlade, the incident was reported at the Tede Police Division.

The suspect is currently in police custody, DAILY POST gathered.

Ayanlade further revealed that one other suspect was arrested in connection with an alleged murder in Ibadan.

He said that the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at Adeoyo Hospital in Ibadan.

He added that another person, a driver, was arrested in connection with the unlawful possession of human parts.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that one Usman Azeez (male), aged 27, allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of a 14-year-old girl while she went to fetch water from a nearby river. The suspect was arrested and is currently in police custody, having reportedly confessed to the offence. Investigation is ongoing, after which the suspect will be charged to court in accordance with the law.

“In a suspected murder case reported at the Tede Police Division, preliminary findings revealed that a misunderstanding between Abdulraheem Koni (male), aged 20, and his employer, Lateef Giwa (male), aged 35, escalated into a violent assault, resulting in fatal injuries to the victim.

“During the altercation, Lawal Ibrahim (male), aged 22, allegedly stabbed Raimi Ige (male), aged 18, with a broken bottle, inflicting fatal injuries. The victim later succumbed while being conveyed to the hospital. The suspect was arrested, and the corpse deposited at the Adeoyo State Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.

“In another operation, operatives of the Federal Highway Patrol intercepted a commercial vehicle during routine stop-and-search along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway near Guru Maharaji Village. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a red cloth containing bones and other items suspected to be parts of a human corpse concealed among the luggage. The driver, Kazeem Ayegbo (male), travelling from Lagos to Osogbo, was apprehended.”
