Otti grants automatic employment to 9 NYSC national award winners

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has granted automatic employment to nine former members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC from the state for their exploits in the various states where they served.

He also said that the employment embargo he had lifted to accommodate the beneficiaries has now been reinstated.

He announced the employment on Tuesday when the ex-NYSC members were led to his residence by the Abia State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Gladys Adama.

He congratulated them for not disgracing the state but making it proud during their service period, which also earned them national awards.

He further announced a cash reward for the former NYSC members.

Otti recalled how the current Head of Service in Abia, Mr Benson Ojeikere, who completed his national youth service in Abia many years ago, was employed and rose to become the state’s Head of Service.

Earlier in her speech, Abia State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Gladys Adama, said that the nine ex-NYSC members were among the set decorated by President Bola Tinubu on July 29, 2025.

She added that eight of those given automatic employment by Governor Otti served outside the South East, while one person served in Enugu.

Speaking on behalf of the new employees, Nwogu Chinomso thanked Governor Otti for giving them employment and promised they would remain good ambassadors of the state.
