Osun Decides: Voting commences in Osogbo, Olorunda LGs

Voting has commenced across polling units in Osogbo and Olorunda local government areas of Osun State.

DAILY POST observed that despite the initial fears of voter apathy due to pre-election violence, there is massive turn out of voters.

In Ward 2, Units 3 and 5,Olorunda local government area, voters turned out enmasse as voting started at few minutes to 9am due to late arrival of INEC ad-hoc staff.

It was also observed that police personnel at the polling units were not armed and conducted themselves accordingly.

In Ward 5, Unit 14, Olorunda local government area, voters complained of an alleged BVAS glitch which was later clarified.

The presiding officers explained that the issue was that if fingers print and picture.

He explained that any of the criteria could be used for accreditation during the voting.

At Ward 5, Unit 7, Olorunda local government, DAILY POST observed that the aged and People With Disabilities, PWDs, were given preference as voting commenced.

There was also reported case of BVAS machine glitch in Ward 1 Unit 10 Boripe L.G at 8:40am.

The Osun INEC Public Relations Officer, Musa Olurode, clarifying the usage of BVAS, disclosed that the criteria for accreditation is either through finger prints or pictures.

He added that if one fails to register, the other is still acceptable.
