Operation KOSAYE: Police charge 76 suspects to court for prostitution, robbery, others in Ogun 

The Ogun State Police Command says it has charged to court no fewer than 76 suspects arrested during its raid and bush-combing exercise codenamed Operation KOSAYE.

DAILY POST had reported that the operation, meaning “No space” or “No chance” in English, is an initiative of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, aimed at wiping out criminal elements from Lagos and Ogun states.

It is also aimed at allaying the fears of citizens and rumours of banditry.

The joint operation and bush-combing exercise carried out across Ogun, Lagos and up to the boundary with Oyo State led to the arrest of 84 suspects, including 75 males and nine females, in June.

At about 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, another 43 suspects, comprising 28 males and 15 females, were arrested in Ogun.

The police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, on Sunday told DAILY POST that after diligent investigation, the suspects were charged before the court and remanded in the appropriate correctional facility.

He noted that with the prosecution of the 43 suspects arrested during the latest raid, the total number of suspects charged to court since the commencement of Operation KOSAYE has risen to 76.

Giving a breakdown, Babaseyi stated that 33 suspects were prosecuted during the initial phase of the operation, while an additional 43 were charged following the latest enforcement action.

The suspects are Ibrahim Lawal, 18; Abubakar Abubakar, 19; Boluwatife Adesanya, 19; Isaka Sakari, 19; Amodu Mohammed, 23; Vicent Eyinrin, 26; Noguedo Siver, 28; Jimoh Olarewaju, 32; Osama Saudeen, 36; Babaginda Ibrahim, 25; Atiku Musa, 35; Monday Kelechi, 23; Umar Faruk, 25; and Oloyede Akorede, 28.

Others include Jimoh Fred, 41; Oluwaseun Olorunmbe, 27; Jide Fasanya, 43; Joshua Fred, 30; Emmanuel Chinemere, 35; Opeyemi Samuel, 26; Kehinde Isiake, 25; Adama Musa; Mary Samuel; Aishat Abubakar; Joy Philips; Comfort Urial; Dorothy Godwin; Osagie Osasere; Faith Obi, all females; and Favour Godwin, among others.

The PRO disclosed that they were being prosecuted for offences bordering on conspiracy, cultism, conduct likely to cause a breach of the public peace, membership of an unlawful society, unlawful assembly, disorderly conduct, unlawful possession and use of suspected cannabis, prostitution, operating and managing an unlicensed brothel, robbery, and other related offences under the relevant laws of Ogun State.

DAILY POST learnt that all the defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

The image maker reiterated the command’s commitment not only to making arrests but also to ensuring diligent investigation and the successful prosecution of criminal offenders.

He noted that follow-up operations are ongoing to apprehend other suspects and unravel additional criminal networks linked to the cases.

Babaseyi urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and report suspicious persons or activities through the command’s emergency lines or the Gateway Shield.
