One killed, three injured in tricycle collision in Jos

JOS — One person has been confirmed dead while three others sustained injuries in a tricycle accident along Haske Road near the Lamingo Golf Club area of Jos, Plateau State.
The incident occurred on Monday evening when two commercial tricycles, popularly known as Keke Napep, collided.
An eyewitness, Mr. Joseph Haruna, said the crash happened after one of the tricycle operators attempted to avoid a pothole on the road, lost control and rammed into an oncoming tricycle.
He said the impact of the collision was severe, leaving one passenger dead at the scene, while three others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The injured victims were quickly evacuated by sympathisers and emergency responders to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Another eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the accident as tragic and called on relevant authorities to urgently repair potholes along the route to prevent further loss of lives.
According to him, the poor condition of the road has become a constant danger to motorists, tricycle operators and other road users in the area.
The crash caused temporary traffic congestion along the Haske Road axis as residents and commuters gathered at the scene.
As of the time of filing this report, officials of relevant traffic and emergency management agencies were yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
