Ogun PDP denies dissolution of state executive, dismisses social media claim

The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media, alleging the dissolution of its State Executive Committee.

Addressing newsmen in Abeokuta, the state party’s chairman, Abayomi Tella, described the claim as a “distasteful innuendo” and the handiwork of individuals attempting to create discord within the party in the state.

According to Tella, the alleged dissolution exists only in the imagination of those spreading the information, noting that the authors of the report lack the constitutional authority to make such a declaration.

He stated that the Ogun State PDP Executive Committee, under his leadership, remains the only legitimate leadership structure of the party in the state.

He explained that the executive committee was duly elected and inaugurated on September 24, 2024, and has been formally recognised and ratified by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party.

“The news of the purported dissolution of the Ogun State Executive Committee is nothing but another attempt by idle minds to sow seeds of discord within the PDP family in Ogun State,” he said.

Tella therefore urged its members, supporters and the general public to disregard the circulating reports and avoid any attempt to distract the party from its focus on strengthening its growing acceptance across the state.

He warned that any attempt by agents provocateurs or dissident groups to cause disaffection within the party would be firmly resisted through lawful means.

He added that the party reiterated its commitment to unity and continued progress in Ogun State, stressing that the party’s advancement would not be derailed by what it described as baseless propaganda.
