Offa robbery:  Kwara APC insists on Saraki’s trial

The Kwara State All Progressive Congress, APC,  has reacted strongly to recent statements by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Saraki, describing them as attempts to distort the ongoing legal process.

In a statement by its State Publicity Secretary, Abdulwaheed Olawale Babatunde, the party urged Saraki and the PDP to allow the court to determine the facts rather than resort to media narratives.

“The court deals with evidence and facts, not dramatic statements aimed at erasing history,” the APC said, adding that anyone confident of their innocence should not fear trial.

The party insisted that the matter should not be politicised, stressing that “the proper place for explanations is the courtroom, not social media or press statements.”

Reacting to Saraki’s denial of any link to the convicted suspects, the APC described the claim as questionable, noting that testimonies and evidence presented during investigations would be examined when proceedings resume.

“The testimonies of key individuals, including those involved in the investigation, do not support the claims being made,” the statement added.

The party also argued that the renewed public debate reflects broader concerns about alleged political sponsorship of violent crimes, insisting that the judiciary must be allowed to operate without interference.

“No amount of noise can stop the law from taking its course. If anyone has questions to answer, the court remains the rightful place,” it stated.

The APC commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for ensuring that due process is followed, regardless of political affiliations.

“The state government deserves commendation for applying the law without fear or favour. No one is above the law,” the party said.It further praised the administration’s performance in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and rural development, noting that ongoing reforms and prompt payment of salaries and pensions demonstrate a focus on governance.According to the party, attempts by the opposition to revisit the Offa robbery case are aimed at diverting attention from developmental strides in the state.

“Kwarans are wiser now and will not be dragged back to an era of political godfatherism and mismanagement of public resources,” the APC added.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to security, justice, and development, stressing that the AbdulRazaq administration would remain focused despite political distractions.
