BOMADI, Delta State — Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has lauded the Executive Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Area, Hon. Rawlings Dagidi Andaye, for what he described as “unparalleled achievements” in just one year in office, as he commissioned 14 completed projects in the riverine council.

Represented by Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme, Oborevwori described the projects as a “visible testament to visionary leadership and passionate service delivery,” urging the people of Bomadi to continue supporting the council chairman to enable him to do more.

“I have not seen this in any other local government council — commissioning 14 completed projects in one day is indeed historic,” the governor said, praising Andaye’s drive and commitment. “It shows clear focus on unity, governance, and service to the people. If he decides to run for a second term, I’m sure you will support him,” he added, to the delight of the cheering crowd.

In his address, Hon. Andaye said the projects were a result of his administration’s determination to transform Bomadi and improve the lives of its residents. He thanked the governor for his support, as well as the council’s executive and legislative arms for their cooperation.

“I took over office on July 15, 2024, and immediately swung into action. Today, by the special grace of God, we are celebrating one year with the commissioning of 14 projects,” he said. “This is just the beginning. We are ready to do more.”

Andaye also appealed to the state government to establish a university in Bomadi, describing the town as the “cradle of Western Ijaw civilization” and stressing the need for a higher institution to serve the educational needs of riverine communities.

Among the projects commissioned were the 3,000-capacity Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori Ultra-modern Multipurpose Event Centre, the High Court Judge’s Complex, High Court Access Road, Chairman’s Lodge, Vice Chairman’s Lodge, Council Chapel, concrete pavements, and several others.

The atmosphere at the commissioning was festive, with residents turning out in large numbers to witness the event and express their support. Chants of “Carry Go, Hon. Dagidi Andaye” echoed through the crowd as the projects were unveiled.

Governor Oborevwori reaffirmed his administration’s support for local government development, noting that grassroots progress is key to the overall advancement of the state.
