Obidient Movement urges end to threats against Peter Obi

Members of the Obidient Movement in Nigeria’s North Central zone have called for an end to threats and attacks directed at their principal, Peter Obi.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the group expressed concern over reports of incidents involving the former presidential candidate and urged all parties to avoid actions that could escalate political tensions.

The statement, signed by the Federal Capital Territory coordinator of the movement, Daniel Dumije, said the group had followed recent developments, including an incident in Edo State, and appealed for restraint.

According to Dumije, members of the movement believe political engagement should remain peaceful and respectful.

“We wish to call on individuals and groups to refrain from actions or statements that could threaten the safety of our principal or contribute to unnecessary tension in the country,” the statement said.

He added that members of the movement remain committed to pursuing their political objectives through peaceful and lawful means.

The group also urged political actors and supporters across the country to promote dialogue, tolerance and respect for democratic processes.

Dumije noted that supporters of the movement would continue to stand by Obi and support his political ideals while advocating peaceful participation in Nigeria’s democratic system.

The statement concluded by encouraging Nigerians to prioritise unity and constructive engagement in national political discussions.
