NSCDC probes killing of volunteer worker during palliative distribution

Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, said it has launched investigation into the killing of its volunteer worker, Buhari Haruna, during the distribution of Ramadan palliatives in the Tudun Wada Local Government Area.

The incident was said to have occurred during the humanitarian programme organised by the member representing Tudun Wada/Doguwa Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa.

The command’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Abdullahi, said it is following up on the matter with the divisional officer to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of the volunteer worker.

According to him, “There was a skirmish in Tudun Wada. He (Buhari Haruna) is our supporting volunteer staff.

“We are following up with our Divisional officer to unravel circumstances surrounding the death. We are investigating the matter. And then, we know the next line of action,” Abdullahi said.

Meanwhile, the incident has sparked a political scandal as the lawmaker claimed the NSCDC worker was reportedly killed by hoodlums who attempted to disrupt the event, while some politicians in the area fingered the lawmaker over the incident.
