NPA expects 39 cargo ships at Lagos ports this week

Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, has announced that 39 vessels transporting petroleum products, food commodities and other cargoes are scheduled to arrive at Lagos ports between Monday and Saturday.
The projection was contained in the authority’s Daily Shipping Position released on Monday, detailing expected vessel traffic at Apapa Port, Lekki Deep Sea Port and Tincan Island Port.
According to the NPA, 11 of the incoming vessels are container ships carrying a variety of imported goods intended for businesses and consumers across the country.
The remaining 28 vessels are expected to berth with consignments including petrol, crude oil, diesel, bulk urea and other general cargoes.
Other shipments expected during the period include bulk wheat, cooking gas, gypsum, sugar, repair materials and bulk pallets for various industrial and commercial purposes.
“The vessels are expected at Apapa, Lekki Deep Sea Port and Tincan Island Port between Aug. 3 and Aug. 8,” the authority stated.
The NPA also disclosed that 10 vessels had already arrived at the ports and were awaiting berthing approval.
The ships currently on standby are carrying petrol, crude oil, bulk wheat, fertiliser, containers and other general cargoes, according to the shipping schedule.
The authority further noted that cargo-handling activities remain active across the three major Lagos ports, underscoring sustained maritime operations and commercial traffic.
It stated that 21 vessels are presently offloading cargoes at Apapa, Lekki Deep Sea Port and Tincan Island Port.
The consignments being discharged include containers, petrol, crude oil, base oil, bulk wheat, sugar and general cargo, as well as bulk pallets and other materials intended to support industrial production, energy distribution and commercial activities nationwide.
