Northern Senators condemn Maiduguri bomb blasts, express solidarity with victims

ABUJA – Senators from the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), under the aegis of the Northern Senators Forum (NSF), have condemned the bomb explosions that rocked Maiduguri, Borno State, on Monday evening after Iftar, resulting in loss of lives and injuries.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Chairman of the forum, Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, expressed shock and sadness over the incident, describing it as devastating.

“We are shocked and saddened by the bomb explosions that rocked Maiduguri on Monday evening after Iftar, claiming precious lives and injuring many,” the statement read.

The senators extended their condolences to the government and people of Borno State, assuring them of their support during the difficult period.

“The Senators are with you in these trying moments, standing in solidarity with the families of the victims and the people of Maiduguri. We assure you that everything will be done by the Federal Government to ensure that the people regain confidence in the city,” Yar’Adua said.

The forum also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured and comfort for families who lost loved ones.

It called on Nigerians to remain calm and support security agencies in their efforts to apprehend those responsible for the attack and bring them to justice.

“May the Almighty Allah forgive and grant the deceased eternal rest,” the statement added.
