NNPCL reduces petrol price after weekend increase
Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL filling stations on Monday reduced their petrol price to N1,370 per litre after increasing it to N1,405 per litre at the weekend.
A market survey by DAILY POST on Monday indicated that NNPCL filling stations in Abuja adjusted their prices downwards to N1,370 per litre from N1,405.
This means that the state-owned oil company reduced its petrol pump price by N35 per litre, returning to its previous price of N1,370 per litre.
DAILY POST reports that NNPCL filling stations in Berger, Wuse Zone 6 and Wuse Zone 4 sold petrol at N1,370 per litre Monday.
The development comes amid the company’s N66-per-litre discount, which is available only to motorists using its recently unveiled app.
DAILY POST reports that MRS and other filling stations in Nigeria had increased their petrol prices.
Recall that the Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, last Thursday proposed a fixed petrol price of N1,350 per litre at NNPCL filling stations.
The move was described by some as a return to fuel subsidy. However, Oyedele and the Presidency dismissed the claim, insisting that the measure was a discount.
