NNPC: I’ve accepted assets, liability, refinery will work – Tinubu assures

President Bola Tinubu has said that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, refinery will come back to work.

President Tinubu made this assertion on Thursday during a meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He stressed that the operational strength of the refinery alone is not sufficient, noting that true success is defined by profitability and value generation.

Tinubu acknowledged the existing assets and liabilities inherited from the previous administrations, accepting full responsibility for fixing the economic challenges to benefit the Nigerian people.

“The refineries you mentioned, NNPCL, will come back to work. Ordinary flame and smoke of a refinery doesn’t mean it’s working until it’s profitable and yields the value for which it was built.

“I’m not a man who looks at things and goes back from them. I’ve accepted the asset and liability of my predecessor, no matter what has happened.

“Years passed, it’s my responsibility now as the president, to fix it, make it work for the largest common value of our population. I take responsibility for that, and I’m going to do it,” he said.
