Nine passengers kidnapped after attack on bus in Kogi

Nine passengers were kidnapped after gunmen attacked a bus on the Itobe–Anyagba Expressway in Kogi State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared a post on X on Friday revealing that the incident happened around 4:20 p.m. near Ogbabo Junction.

The attackers, believed to be armed hoodlums, suddenly came out from the bush, fired shots, and forced the Peace Mass Transit bus to stop.

According to the post, the driver, Sunday Okechi, and six passengers managed to escape, but nine others were taken into the bush by the attackers.

Security forces quickly responded to the scene, where they found the bus with registration number ENZ-55 XS and a blue Toyota Carina ‘E’ abandoned. Both vehicles have now been secured by the authorities.

Members of the security agencies, the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, and local hunters have started a search and rescue operation to free the kidnapped passengers and nab the gunmen.
