Nigerian newspapers review: [Middle-East war] No distress calls yet from Nigerians in Iran — FG

In today’s Nigerian newspapers review programme, Today in the News, Vanguard leads with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) announcing on Monday that it has not received any emergency report from Nigerians living in Iran despite the escalating tensions involving Iran, the United States and Israel.

Vanguard also reports that 36 state governors, operating under the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), have endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s policy mandating the direct payment of oil and gas revenue entitlements into the Federation Account.

Moving to the next paper, The Guardian leads with nations observing the 2026 World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day (NTDs), with Nigeria’s fight against the illnesses standing at a critical juncture following earlier achievements such as the eradication of Guinea worm and significant declines in trachoma and lymphatic filariasis, now at risk due to dwindling donor support, insecurity, and tight import regulations.
