Ngolong Tuwan: Expanded Consultation Crucial for Northern Unity and Development

Ngolong Tuwa, Nde Tongshinen Richard a respected traditional leader from Tuwan in Ngas land, Plateau State, has emphasized the importance of unity and consultation in addressing regional grievances in the North.

 Speaking with newsmen in Kaduna briefly after the launch of the Arewa Cohesion for Peace, Unity and Development Initiative (ACPUDI) at the historic Arewa House in Kaduna,  Ngolong Tuwan commended the convener for promoting peace, unity, and development in Northern Nigeria.

The monarch stressed that broader consultations are essential in addressing grievances within the region, warning against internal marginalization and promoting a united front. He emphasized the need to engage with aggrieved members who don't believe in one North in order to find solutions for their grieve for the region to forge a common front of unity, ensuring that all voices are heard and valued.

The ACPUDI, launched on July 10, 2025, aims to foster peaceful coexistence, address insecurity, and promote sustainable development in the North. The initiative, backed by prominent northern leaders, including former Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa, seeks to create structured platforms for conflict resolution and promote good governance.

As a personality from Ngas where the prominently respected General Yakubu Gowon hails from,  highlights the significance of effective public consultation in decision-making processes. By actively seeking opinions from affected groups and incorporating their feedback, the region can achieve better project outcomes, enhanced stakeholder support, and a strong foundation for trustful relationships.

Tongshinen called for unity and consultation echoes the objectives of the ACPUDI, which is open to collaboration with any organization sharing similar goals. With key figures, including retired generals, former governors, traditional rulers, and development experts, pledging support for the initiative, the stage is set for collective ownership and sustained commitment to achieve transformation in the North.
