NDC dismisses social media primary results, announces NEC meeting on candidates

ABUJA — The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged the public to disregard various results of its recent primary elections circulating on social media, insisting that only the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) is authorized to announce the official outcome.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., the party said the results of the nationwide primaries conducted on May 28 and 29, 2026, remain in the custody of the NEC.

The party warned members, supporters and stakeholders against relying on unofficial results being shared across different social media platforms.

“The general public is hereby urged to disregard the various results circulating on social media as the outcome of the nationwide primaries conducted by the Nigeria Democratic Congress on the 28th and 29th of May, 2026.

“The results of the primaries are with the National Executive Council (NEC) of our great party. They are solely responsible for announcements of results,” the statement said.

According to the party, a NEC meeting has been convened on the directive of the National Leader, Seriake Dickson, to deliberate on matters arising from the primaries.

The statement disclosed that all NEC members have been directed to arrive in Abuja for a pre-NEC meeting on June 2, while the main NEC meeting is scheduled for June 3.

The NDC further assured party members and the general public that the official results of the primaries would be made public after the party concludes its internal processes and submits the list of candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

“The general public and stakeholders will be availed of the results of our primaries when we send the list of candidates to fly our party’s flag to INEC,” the statement added.
