A former Bayelsa State gubernatorial candidate, Udengs Eradiri, has applauded steps taken so far by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to tackle insecurity in the country.

Eradiri particularly hailed the President for appointing the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa (retd), as the Minister of Defence.

He applauded the National Assembly for swiftly screening and confirming Musa saying it signalled a new determined era to confront banditry and terrorism.

Eradiri, a former Commissioner for Youths and later Environment in Bayelsa State further commended the way and manner President Tinubu turned emerging aggression from USA into collaborative diplomacy.

The Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) said President Tinubu intelligently converted the American aggression into a collaborative effort to find permanent solution to insecurity in the country

His words: “I want to commend Mr President for some of the actions he had taken in recent times to address the security situation in the country.

“One of it is that he turned the aggression that was coming from America into diplomacy. Instead of guns blazing, it is now a collaborative effort to rid Nigeria of this cancer that is affecting us.

“I commend Mr President that despite the deteriorating level we got to, he was able to certain vital decisions. One of it is the appointment of the recently retired Defence Chief as the Minister for Defence. The defence ministry cannot be run by people who have no business in security.

“The Nigerian system must be purged of moles. Nigerians are happy with the appointment of Gen Musa. You can feel the pulse because the know that the man is a round peg in a round hole.

“I want to appeal to the President to evolve a system that would purge all the moles and saboteurs out of all public institutions especially the security architecture.

“The problem is actually the moles in government, the APC, the National Assembly, civil service, the army and the national security architecture. That is where the fight must start.

“The President must begin to look inward to identify, name and shame all the moles. The DSS recently purged itself of some persons. The President must look into the Ministry of Communication to stop the compromise of military signals.

“Some persons are passing vital information to terrorists. The battle is about purging all the internal worms in the system. We must cleanse our system. Let us name and shame all the people in the wanted list.

“We are only appealing to these governors to judiciously utilize these humongous resources and revenue accruing to them because of the economic intelligence displayed by the President Tinubu’s administration.

“This revenue must reflect in the standard of living of citizens in the various states. It is obvious that President Tinubu has been generating a lot of money for the governors. The governors must reciprocate by evolving people-oriented programmes and projects that will reduce the cost of living and increase the standard of living in their various states.”
