Morocco 2026: Flamingos return, set to finish job against Guinea on Sunday

After securing a commanding 5-0 victory over Guinea in Abidjan, Nigeria’s U17 girls, the Flamingos, have returned to camp in Ikenne-Remo as preparations immediately shift towards the decisive second leg of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

The delegation departed Abidjan on Sunday morning aboard ASKY Airlines, leaving Côte d’Ivoire at 9:35am local time before arriving in Lomé, Togo an hour later at 10:35am local time. The team later departed the Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport in Lomé for the final leg of the journey back to Nigeria.

The delegation arrived at their training base in Ikenne shortly after midnight. The return to Nigeria now marks the beginning of another crucial phase for the team as attention turns to the second leg now scheduled for Sunday, 30th May at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

Having produced an emphatic first-leg display in Abidjan, the 2022 World Cup bronze-medallists will look to finish the job on home soil as Nigeria’s push for qualification to the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco continues.
