Minister of Transportation, Alkali, resigns to pursue governorship ambition

The Minister of Transportation, Said Ahmed Alkali, has resigned his appointment in compliance with a presidential directive mandating political appointees with aspirations for elective offices to step down.

Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Minister of Transportation, Alkali Jibril, in a press statement stated that
Alkali’s resignation, which has been formally accepted by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, paves the way for his participation in the forthcoming governorship election.

The outgoing minister expressed gratitude to the President for the privilege to serve, noting that his tenure recorded notable strides in the nation’s transportation sector.

He highlighted achievements made under his leadership, describing the experience as both rewarding and impactful.

The development is in line with an earlier directive from the Presidency requiring all appointees seeking elective positions to relinquish their offices ahead of the electoral process, in a move aimed at ensuring fairness and transparency.

Alkali is expected to formally declare his governorship bid in the coming days.
