Lagos Ikoyi Diamond Lions Club distributes reusable bags to shoppers

As part of the global Lions Clubs International Environment Week initiative, the Lagos Ikoyi Diamond Lions Club, weekend, stormed The Palms Shopping Mall, Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos, where they distributed reusable biodegradable bags to shoppers at  the mall.

During the programme, members educated beneficiaries on the dangers of single-use plastics and encouraged sustainable environmental practices.

Also, members engaged the public with brief conversations by handing over the well designed and detailed hand flyers, which showcased  the mission and impact of Lions Clubs International; the service activities of Lagos Ikoyi Diamond Lions Club.

Speaking at the occasion, Environment Chairperson of Lagos Ikoyi Diamond Lions Club, Lion Ogechi Lucy Eboh, said the initiative promotes sustainability, reduces plastic waste and supports “Greener Communities.

According to her, “objectives of the activity include to reduce the use of single-use plastics and promote environmentally friendly alternatives; to contribute to a cleaner and healthier community; to increase awareness and visibility of Lionism; to engage the public and attract potential new members,” adding that the project was executed through a well-coordinated outreach.”

Also speaking, Lion Ferguson Amazi-Ikponmwen, Ist Vice President, representing the Chartered President of  Lagos Ikoyi Diamond Lions Club, named other activities of the Lions Club International focus on eight global causes of vision (sight conservation), hunger relief, diabetes awareness, childhood cancer, environment, youth empowerment, mental health, and disaster relief.
