Kwara Gov AbdulRazaq denies submitting aspirant’s name to president

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has denied claims that he submitted the name of any aspirant to the President as his preferred successor.

The governor described the reports as false, malicious and aimed at blackmailing him, urging those behind them to channel their energy into promoting their own aspirations to relevant stakeholders.

He also called on party leaders and stakeholders across the state to disregard the claims.

This was contained in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Bashir Adigun.

The statement read: “Reports that the name of any particular aspirant has been submitted to the President as the candidate for Kwara State governor are false, malicious, and designed to blackmail Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

“We reject the blackmail outright. It is false to suggest that the governor has submitted the name of any aspirant. Members and leaders of our party should ignore it,” Adigun said.

He added that all aspirants should focus on selling their ambitions to stakeholders, noting that the time and resources spent on blackmail could be better utilised.
