Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has approved the constitution of a special committee to investigate the unfortunate death of two children at General Hospital, Zuru.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, and made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

According to the statement, the committee is composed of the Commissioner for Information Yakubu Ahmed BK as Chairman, the Commissioner for Health Alhaji Sama’ila Augie and the Hon. Commissioner for Establishment Alhaji Manu Dogondaji as Members while the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Zaki Abubakar Zaki will serve as Secretary.

The terms of reference of the committee are to investigate the remote and immediate probable causes of the death of the two children, who are from the same father; identify all those directly or indirectly connected with the incident, in line with allegations that they were victims of a wrongful injection allegedly administered to them; apportion appropriate blame where necessary; and make recommendations to avert future occurrences.

The committee has been given one week to submit its report and has been directed to commence work immediately without delay.

The professional anomaly has sent their parents into mourning and has created tension in the hospital communication.

However, it was alleged that certain nurses defied doctors’ instructions, as reported by an online medium earlier.
