Kano govt approves N1.1bn for free school uniforms

The Kano State Government has approved N1.1 billion for the procurement of free school uniforms for Primary One pupils in the state, aimed at boosting enrolment.
This was contained in a statement issued by Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, spokesman for Governor Abba Yusuf, on Friday in Kano.
According to the statement, providing free school uniforms is expected to boost enrolment, improve retention, and ensure equal opportunity for pupils.
It added that education is a right, not a privilege, and the initiative will ease the burden on parents while attracting out-of-school children into classrooms.
The government noted that the move complements other education reforms under its comprehensive education agenda.
