Jos Killings: NAS demands urgent action to protect citizens

The National Association of Seadogs (NAS) has condemned the killing of no fewer than 30 persons in Anguwan Rukuba, Jos, Plateau State, calling for the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, NAS Capn, Joseph Oteri, described the recurring violence across the country as unacceptable and a reflection of the failure of authorities to adequately protect lives.

“We are deeply saddened and outraged by the recurring killings in Jos and other communities across Nigeria. The sanctity of human life must never be treated lightly. Every Nigerian life matters and must be protected with the full weight of the law,” he said.

Oteri noted that the frequency of such attacks raises concerns about the effectiveness of current security measures and the commitment of authorities to prevent them. He urged the Federal Government to go beyond routine condemnations and take decisive steps to end the violence.

“The pattern of violence is alarming. Nigerians are being subjected to avoidable trauma, fear, and loss. Government must demonstrate genuine political will to stop these killings,” he added.

The association called for improved intelligence gathering, prompt emergency response, and stronger collaboration between security agencies and local communities. It also urged that security agencies be adequately equipped and held accountable to ensure perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice.

NAS extended condolences to families of the victims and called on citizens to remain vigilant while cooperating with lawful authorities to promote peace and stability.
