Insecurity: Plateau LG chairman imposes dusk-to-dawn curfew in metropolis

Executive Chairman of Mangu Local Government Area in Plateau State, Hon. Emmanuel Mwolpun, has imposed a curfew on Mangu Metropolis.

The curfew, which takes effect from Wednesday, April 1, 2026, runs from 8 pm to 6 am daily until further notice.

The chairman took the decision after careful deliberation with heads of security operatives in the area, to safeguard the lives and property of residents amid prevailing security concerns.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director of Press and Publicity to the Chairman, Jeremiah Dakahap, the local government urged residents to comply fully with the directive.

“Members of the public are advised to stay indoors during the curfew hours and cooperate with security personnel on duty,” the statement said.

Mwolpun appealed to residents to go about their lawful daily activities peacefully during the day and report any suspicious movements or activities to the relevant security agencies.

The curfew is aimed at ensuring public safety and security in the metropolis, the statement added.

Mangu LGA has witnessed recurring security challenges in recent times, prompting several restrictions on movement in parts of Plateau State.

Mangu Local Government is 48 kilometres away from Jos, the capital of Plateau State.
