IGP Disu orders strategic posting of Senior Police officers nationwide

ABUJA — The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the deployment of senior officers to key positions across the Nigeria Police Force as part of efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and improve service delivery nationwide.

Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the postings are aimed at enhancing leadership capacity and ensuring an effective command structure across Commands, Formations, and Departments.

According to the statement, several Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) were assigned to strategic departments at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, including Research and Planning, Operations, Armament, Training and Development, Legal Services, and Community Policing.

Other AIGs were deployed to zonal commands across the country, including Lagos, Maiduguri, Makurdi, and Katsina, as well as specialised units such as the Special Protection Unit and the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).

In a similar development, multiple Commissioners of Police (CPs) were posted to head state commands, including Jigawa, Oyo, Delta, Ogun, Ekiti, Adamawa, the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos, Taraba, Zamfara, Katsina, and Sokoto.

Additional deployments covered critical formations and units such as INTERPOL, the Police Academy (POLAC), the Special Fraud Unit, SWAT, K9, and the Safer Highway unit, among others.

The postings also included appointments to administrative and technical roles within the Force Headquarters and affiliated departments, aimed at boosting coordination, intelligence gathering, and operational effectiveness.

IGP Disu charged the affected officers to bring their experience to bear in their new roles, urging them to uphold professionalism, discipline, and dedication in the discharge of their duties.

The latest redeployment, according to the police leadership, underscores ongoing reforms within the Force to improve security operations and public confidence across the country.
